2009 CALSAGA Annual Conference rapidly approaching

2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference two weeks away

Time is winding down.  If you haven’t already registered for the 2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference, do so today.  This is not the year miss!

Also, we will be having our Security Officer Memorial Fund reception on the first night of the conference.  For those that will be attending, we are putting together items to be auctioned off to raise money for the Memorial Fund and we ask all of you to please help if you can.  Many of you have clients who can provide hotel packages, baskets or other items of interest to be auctioned.

Vicki Bradshaw to headline the 2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference

CALSAGA is thrilled to have Vicki Bradshaw, Secretary of the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency address attendees on recent developments on California’s labor and employment environment.  Ms. Bradshaw is part of Governor Schwarzenegger’s Cabinet and is widely regarded in Sacramento and throughout the State as the foremost expert on issues pertaining to labor and employment.

With less than three weeks left before the 2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference, if you haven’t already registered, the time act is now.  Space is quickly filling up, so download the registration form and send it in to our office today!

On the first night of the conference, the CALSAGA Memorial Foundation will hold its 4th Annual Security Officer Memorial Fund (SOMF) reception.  Each year, we strive to make the reception more successful than the prior year and this year is no different.  In the spirit of having the conference in the heart of California’s pristine wine country, CALSAGA has invited two local wineries to pour some of their finest wine to attendees. 

Additionally, there will be a silent auction and raffle drawing to raise money for the SOMF, including tickets to the Buick Invitational, the Holiday Bowl, an iPod Nano, and so much more!
For those wishing to test their skills on the golf links, the 2nd Annual CALSAGA Golf Tournament will held on Wednesday, November 5 at The Links at Bodega Bay.  You can sign up for both events on the registration form provided above.

2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference just around the corner

It is hard to believe, but we are less than a month out from the 2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference!  If you haven’t already confirmed your attendance, what are you waiting for?

In an effort to ensure the best possible experience for our attendees, our staff has coordinated an all-star lineup of speakers and various events like the 2nd Annual CALSAGA Golf Tournament and Wine Tasting Tour of Napa County.  In addition, the conference is located in the Historic Railroad Square, which features several local restaurants, bars and boutique shops. 

CALSAGA has been able to extend the $159 hotel room block cutoff date to October 16, so if you are planning on attending, you need to book your room as soon as possible.  Also, we have extended the “early bird” registration rate of $199 until October 16.  There are also price breaks in registration depending on how many people you register from your company.  Call our office today to register or you can also fax your registration form to us as well. 

We can’t stress enough the importance of our members attending this event.  We understand that it is challenging to check out of your office for a few days to attend a conference, but your participation is really what makes this event a success.  More importantly, your participation facilitates the continual growth and professionalism of our industry and organization.

Kuty & Associates and TEAM Software to host seminar in partnership with 2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference

In conjunction with the 2008 CALSAGA Annual Conference on November 5-8 in Santa Rosa, Kuty & Associates and TEAM Software will be hosting an informational seminar on Wednesday, November 5 at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa. 

“Changing Times, Changing Strategies for Increased Growth”, is a chance for CALSAGA members to learn how to develop effective marketing tactics to strengthen your organization, as well as strengthen the financial position of your company by utilizing technology. 

For members planning on arriving the day before our conference, this is an excellent opportunity from both an educational and networking standpoint.  Plus, everyone can benefit from an extra day in Napa Valley!

REMINDER: 2009 CALSAGA Board Nominations

As a reminder, the nominations period is now open for members who are interested in serving on the 2009 CALSAGA Board of Directors.  The deadline for submissions is September 12, 2008.

2009 CALSAGA Board Nominations

CALSAGA is pleased to announce that the nominations period is now open for members who are interested in serving on the 2009 CALSAGA Board of Directors.  The deadline for submissions is September 12, 2008.

Open Positions:

The CALSAGA membership elects 5 Executive Committee members (President, 2 Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary) and currently 9 Regional Directors to the Board.  The Board selects 2 additional at-large directors to round out the Board.  The term for service is one calendar year commencing January 1, 2009.

To be eligible for the Board, you must be a primary or secondary contact of a Company Member of CALSAGA.  Members of the Executive Committee have a further requirement of having served in some other prior leadership capacity, either in another Board Position (Regional Director or Director at Large) or having chaired a CALSAGA Committee.  The Board may waive these requirements if petitioned.  (Please contact our CALSAGA office for a copy of our bylaws setting forth the specific requirements if you have additional questions.)

To Nominate:

You may either nominate yourself for a Board position or have another voting member nominate you.   Of course, you are also free to nominate another CALSAGA member. To nominate or to be nominated, just send your name, the name of the nominee and company to the CALSAGA office by e-mailing William Hodges at whodges@calsaga.org, or calling (866) 310-2551.  The Elections and Nominations Committee will review all nominations and forward qualified nominees to the membership for voting.

Candidates will be given room for a 200 word statement in the fall issue of Observed & Reported, to be published before the conference.  Candidates will also be given a few minutes to speak at the conference, if needed. 

Voting:

Voting will begin after September 12, 2008 and continue through the conference.  Members not attending the conference can vote by mail or fax, and members at the conference will be able to vote in person.  The results of the election will be announced on the final day of the conference.

If you have ever considered serving the Association in a representative capacity, now more than ever we invite you to submit a letter of interest.

Again, if you are interested in serving on the CALSAGA Board of Directors, kindly submit a letter to the CALSAGA office no later than September 12, 2008.  We will then mail out ballots to the entire membership, including statements from each candidate.  This process ensures that each candidate is given an opportunity to communicate their positions and statements of qualifications for office.

In 2009, CALSAGA plans to continue to grow membership, expand our marketing efforts and further develop our political clout in Sacramento.  Members elected to the Board will help us achieve these and other goals.

CALSAGA launches 2008 Annual Conference webpage

CALSAGA is pleased to announce the launch of the 2008 Annual Conference webpage!  You can access the webpage by clicking here. 

The conference webpage gives members access to all pertinent information related to the conference, including a registration form, hotel accommodations, list of speakers and preliminary schedule.  We encourage you to check the webpage on a regular basis, as we’ll be updating the content periodically.

The "early bird" rate of $199 expires on October 13 and we have included other built-in discounts for registering multiple people from your company.  Click here to download the registration form.  You can mail it to the CALSAGA office on the address listed on the form, or you can fax it to (916) 930-0702.
