Guard rescues toddler from hot car - Salt Lake Tribune

A store security guard is being praised for saving a 2-year-old child left unattended in a vehicle on a warm Sunday afternoon.  The guard spotted the boy at 3:38 p.m. in a vehicle parked at the Sears store at 800 S. State St. The guard could see he was perspiring, even though the weather was overcast and the car window was left slightly open, said Lt. Gary Young with the Salt Lake Police Department.

Guard who triggered lockdown no longer working - The Birmingham News, Alabama

A Samford University security officer who fabricated a report of an intruder that led to a campus lockdown Friday is no longer employed at the school, the school's president said on the Samford Web site this afternoon.

Security for Tempe, Mesa light rail to go private - ABC 15, Phoenix

The City of Phoenix's layout for staffing the Valley's light-rail system with police personnel will not go as planned.  Tempe and Mesa officials say it would cost too much and have opted to use private security instead.
