Additional changes to the CALSAGA Blog

As you know, a few weeks ago CALSAGA decided to password protect our blog in response to a pattern of inappropriate activity that we had been tracking over a few months.  While this has been effective in eliminating unwarranted comments, the overall daily web hits to the blog have slightly dropped.

In an effort to increase web traffic to our blog, what we have decided to do is make the CALSAGA blog available for anyone to view again.  Additionally, we have created a “member- only” blog for sensitive information we want to communicate out to our members.  We will inform members when there is something new on the member only blog when appropriate.

For those of you who already have the username and password that we distributed out a few weeks ago to view the normal blog, you will be able to use that for the member-only blog.  If you are a member and would like a username and password, please email me at whodges@calsaga.org and I’ll be more than happy to set you up.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Next step for Senate Bill 666 takes shape

The BSIS Journal posted today that they are seeking to form an advisory committee to help develop training curriculum for proprietary security officers as directed by Senate Bill 666.  As a reminder, this was the legislation that CALSAGA sponsored and Governor Schwarzenegger signed late last year.

In the Governor's signing message, he instructed BSIS to form a committee and bring forth training recommendations by July 2008.  As we had hoped, BSIS is already moving quickly to adopt regulations.  It is important to note that CALSAGA will not have a seat on this committee, per the instructions of the bill.

We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the advisory committee.  Without question, this is good news and puts us one step closer to making training requirements mandatory for all security officers in California, whether you're an in-house or contract security officer.
