Four suspects arrested after allegedly attacking security guard - KESQ-TV (news website), Palm Springs

Four men are behind bars tonight, accused of beating a Bower Security guard until he was unconscious.

Palm Springs Police are saying, a 66 year old US Marine Corp veteran that was working as Bower Security guard was viciously beaten early Saturday morning.

The guard was watching over a construction site on El Dorado Boulevard, when four men alleged dragged him from his patrol car and beat him until he was unconscious. The four then allegedly robbed him and fled in a older model Ford Explorer.

Chipman weighs hiring private security - Canadian Broadcasting Company

The New Brunswick village of Chipman is looking into hiring private security guards to address vandalism, officials say, because they're unhappy with RCMP coverage and response times.

Chipman Mayor Carol Doherty said recent vandalism has council thinking a different approach is needed.

"I know we're not the only place, too, but I guess Chipman's my concern right now," Doherty said. "If we have to go with [private] security, I guess we'll have to try that."

The village of Hillsborough hired a security guard in May, because it said a lack of RCMP visibility in the community was partly to blame for a rise in vandalism.
