Chipman weighs hiring private security - Canadian Broadcasting Company
The New Brunswick village of Chipman is looking into hiring private security guards to address vandalism, officials say, because they're unhappy with RCMP coverage and response times.
Chipman Mayor Carol Doherty said recent vandalism has council thinking a different approach is needed.
"I know we're not the only place, too, but I guess Chipman's my concern right now," Doherty said. "If we have to go with [private] security, I guess we'll have to try that."
The village of Hillsborough hired a security guard in May, because it said a lack of RCMP visibility in the community was partly to blame for a rise in vandalism.
